LITTER AUDIT

We sure have had a very, very busy day today. Today we conducted a litter audit of the school with Mia a worker from the Caboolture Shire Council. Our class travelled around the school to collect any rubbish left around our grounds and record it on our sheets. After just 30 mins we found over 500 pieces of rubbish from around our classrooms. We weighed all the rubbish and found out it was over 4kg....WOW! We have since listed a few ideas as to how we can reduce the litter at school and will continue this project more next term.

GOLD INTERVIEWS

As part of our assessment this term, we have had to take on the role of a person who lived on the goldfields. Each one of us chose to be either a digger, mother/wife, policeman or blacksmith. We had to dress up in the role of our chosen character and answer a number of questions about our life with our host Miss B.

FESTA TIME!

Today our class put on a festa (party) for our ospiti (guests)....our parents, teachers and some students came to our party. Our task for Italian this term was to organise a festa with guests, GIOCHI (games) and lots and lots of CIBO (food). We had lots of fun and was a great opportunity for us to all practise the Italian we have been learning about each week in class.

GOLD EXCURSION - PROPHET GOLD MINE

On the 26 March, 5 Blue went to the Prophet Gold Mine. We experienced how life is/was on a gold mine in Kilkivan.
We arrived at school at 6:50am and the bus left at 7:30am. It took 2 and a half hours to get to the town. We went the wrong way so we turned around and went into the town. It was very small town. We got out of the town and found the place we were supposed to go. We got out of the bus and we met John and had morning tea. John told us what happened on the gold mine. After that he showed us around his mine. After showing us around we got to pan for gold. After panning, John showed what gold looks like when it is melted down and cooled. We had lunch and then had to say goodbye to the gold mine and head back to school.
I really enjoyed the excursion to the gold mine because i got to pan for gold and learn more about gold. By Liam

TERM ONE

We have been very busy this term. We have learnt lots on GOLD and the Eureka Stockade, read a fantastic novel called Holes and have been researching various third world countries to prepare a Prayer Ritual for. Here are some photos of us working hard in class.
